ACTIVITY MANAGEMENT SYSTEM

Executive Summary

When you are one of the largest insurance companies in the country, you have claims running into millions of pounds, you have employees who are scattered across throughout the country, and you have various levels in the same designation, and on top of it , multitudes of designations in the company and each level in each designation has hundreds of people, you need a system which not only tracks the information, the performance parameters of each of the people, but should also be robust, scalable, secure and user-friendly. When one of the largest insurance company in Romania faced this problem of consolidating all the information and making a system which catered to tracking correct information of its agents. The challenge lied in the timeframe available and also in understanding where to start so that the business for the company kept on running as usual without affecting the existing customers. The client was on the lookout for a mid sized vendor where it could share all the details without having to worry about the architecture of the application itself. They needed a web solution and were unsure whether the web version of such a massive application would be feasible, if at all.

The Mindfire Solutions

Mindfire Solutions started on from listening to the exact needs of all the stakeholders at the start of the process. Each of the levels had dependency of data from the root level – the agents. Activity management system is used to keep track of the managers’ and agents’ activities. It has two (admin / user) sections. An admin can create and update the agent information. Admin can synchronize the data from Access database to SQL Server database to update the agents. Mangers can enter the activities of their lower next hierarchy according to their role. Managers can also generate several reports (export to excel), graphs within a date range.

Technologies

ASP.NET, C#.NET, .Net 2.0 framework, Crystal Reports 10, JavaScript, SQL Server 2005, XML Chart

Achievements

WEB BASED E-ERP BUSINESS SOLUTION - A COMPLETE SUPPLY CHAIN MANAGEMENT SYSTEM

Executive Summary

Our Belgium e-business client wanted to develop a web based “B2B and B2C Supply Chain and Content Management” framework suited for driving on line shopping sites and the back-end business process to support the management of the supply chain. Our relation with the client started 3 years ago when they approached us for a small application development. The client was very pleased with the result and came back with a larger application, ‘a legacy system built on Progress and PHP’ to be re-built using .Net 3.5 and My SQL/ MS SQL Server, that would work on multiple databases. In addition to this, the application required to be multilingual.

Manufacturing2

Looking into the specifications provided by the client, Mindfire’s team took charge of the project and proposed the client with a basic business flow. The final system that was built basing on this business workflow proved to be a very robust one with the client being very satisfied and extending its relationship with Mindfire Solutions by providing more and more development work.

About Our Client

Client: e-Business solution provider

Location: Belgium

Industry: e-Business Solution

Business Situation

The client’s primary aim to develop this application was to create a web based B2B2C environment that supports the management of complete supply chain including cash register, eCommerce, e-invoicing, warehouse management, CMS and CRM. They had an existing legacy system built on Progress and PHP which was to be rebuilt using .Net 3.5 and My SQL/ MS SQL Server. The customer also wanted that the application would be multilingual as well as work on multiple databases.

Mindfire’s technical team took up the work and started analyzing the scenarios and the necessary steps to be taken in order to fulfill the objective of the client. After certain brainstorming sessions among the developers, the technical team proposed the client with a business workflow that needs to be followed in order to develop the system so as to efficiently manage the system. MODEL CONVERTER SERVICE

Executive Summary

This case study is all about conversion of Rich Models (rich with CAD / CAM data) to Transactional Models (light weight version of Rich model file). Our Belgium client was looking for a software development firm who can provide a solution wherein, conversion of Rich Models (heavy files) to its corresponding light weight version is done easily and at a faster pace keeping in mind that the light weight version to be created should contain the same behavior as that of the Rich Model file.

CAD-1

When Mindfire Solutions was approached for this project, they analyzed the client’s business and technical requirements before proposing a solution. Mindfire finally developed a new standard called Transactional Model. There were few challenges faced during the course of this project, but the team did well to produce a very robust multi-threaded windows service to convert Rich Model to Transactional Model. The current model has SQL Server 2005 as the database. But, as required by the client the model also has Oracle serving as the backend for users. The project also involved some SharePoint development work of creating a log-in page.

About Our Client

Client: Solution Provider to Heavy Industry

Location: Belgium

Industry: Heavy Industry

Business Situation

In heavy industries engineering users often create the model / blue print of the sites and they need software with rich functionality to process engineering data to prepare end user information. “Rich Model” is a standard developed by our client that provides engineering user a facile way to create, read, update and delete engineering data and present them efficaciously. The client was curious in having something in place that would, be of lighter weight and have the same behavior as that of the Rich Model, with a faster approach of converting the heavy weight file to its lighter version. The requirement for such a solution was required due to the problems stated below:

  • As Rich model files are self-contained, they are heavy-weight in nature.
  • All engineering data reside in local file system, hence sharing data among multiple users was tedious.
  • Multiple users can’t work on same model at the same time.
  • The client also had couple of other requirements. They required a log-in page to be created for users in SharePoint. Also, they needed Oracle as an alternate database for users to have a choice of database.

Technologies

.Net Framework 2.0, C#, SQL Server 2005, Oracle, SharePoint 2007

How to overcome problems of Multi-Cloud Data Integration?

In today’s digital world, it has become essential for businesses to leverage multi-cloud technology to stay ahead of their ever-growing competition. Multi-cloud technology is far more convenient and offers superior performance than traditional on-premise infrastructure.

top-7-web-application-testing-practices-for-qa-professionals

A 2021 report by Statista shows that about 90% of large enterprises have already adopted multi-cloud because of its various benefits. With time, the number of users for multi-cloud technology is only going to increase. According to Gartner, 80% of businesses leveraging the cloud will adopt a multi-cloud approach by the end of 2022.

There is no doubt that the multi-cloud approach offers significant advantages to organizations. In this blog, we will address some common challenges that organizations can face while integrating data on multi-cloud. Before getting into the integration challenges, let’s know what multi-cloud technology is.

What is Multi-Cloud?

Multi-cloud refers to a cloud strategy where multiple cloud platforms like Amazon Web Services(AWS), Google Cloud Platform (GCP), and Microsoft Azure are leveraged to host an organization’s data, applications, or infrastructure in a single environment.

A multi-cloud strategy must not be confused with a hybrid-cloud strategy. In a hybrid-cloud strategy, resources are shared between on-premise infrastructure and single cloud infrastructure. In contrast, the multi-cloud strategy relies on using more than one cloud provider.

Benefits of Multi-Cloud

Enterprises choosing multi-cloud experience numerous advantages. Here is the list of the benefits of utilizing multi-cloud:

● No Reliance on a Single Vendor

Several cloud vendors in the market offer unique features, but a single cloud provider doesn’t need to cater to all your needs. With a multi-cloud strategy, you can choose the best services from multiple vendors for specific requirements.

● Increased Performance

The extended network of a multi-cloud solution can develop connections that improve your applications’ response time and user experience. It also offers businesses to choose cloud providers depending on the location, which can further increase the application performance.

● Data Recovery

A multi-cloud strategy allows organizations to replicate data on two or more cloud platforms, ensuring data recovery even if any of the platforms abruptly fails due to some technical difficulties. By chance, if one of the cloud platforms is facing downtime, all of its data can be transported to another platform instantaneously.

● Flexibility and Scalability

As the volume of data increases, it becomes difficult for an organization with on-premise infrastructure to manage it effectively. Multi-cloud integration is an ideal solution for enterprises that are looking to store and process data, as they can scale their storage requirements depending on their demand.

Challenges of Multi-Cloud Integration

To incorporate multi-cloud technology into your organization, you might need to mitigate these challenges during the transformation process.

● Growing Prices: As the demand for the cloud platform is increasing exponentially, their prices are also rising. This can be a big hurdle for small and mid-sized enterprises while adapting to the multi-cloud strategy.

● Architectural Complexity: Migration from on-premise infrastructure to a cloud infrastructure causes organizations to make drastic changes in their existing architecture. They must completely redesign their on-premise infrastructure to run applications on cloud platforms.

● Data Governance: Data Governance refers to data management that ensures the high availability, integrity, and usability of an organization’s data. Integrating a multi-cloud infrastructure involves massive data exchange among the cloud platforms. Governing these exchanges on a multi-cloud infrastructure can be an overwhelming task for an IT team.

● Role Management: Each cloud platform has its portal, APIs, and unique processes for managing its environment. Hence, enterprises might have to hire experts for managing the multi-cloud infrastructure and ensure that the company’s IT environment is being secured and utilized to its full potential. It is also possible that employees within the organization may see a change in their roles and responsibility.

How To Overcome Multi-Cloud Integration Challenges

Here are some of the best practices that you can adopt to overcome the challenges faced while multi-cloud data integration:

● Before moving forward with the integration process, a proper plan should be drafted that addresses concerns of monitoring, administration, resources, and the management required to make the transition.

● An enterprise can perform pre-migration tests to foresee obstacles they might face during the actual migration process. This process will also provide a clear picture of the costs and time required in the multi-cloud data integration process.

● There are several integration platforms available online that allow the different cloud platforms to interact seamlessly with each other, making it efficient for organizations to migrate from on-premise to cloud infrastructure. It also makes the process of data exchange among them efficient.

● Usage of the latest automation techniques can ease the burden of data governance, and the IT team will be able to focus on more complex tasks. It is also one of the ways to optimize the costs involved in the process.

Conclusion

With the benefits offered by a multi-cloud strategy, it has become essential for enterprises to migrate towards multi-clout technology. There are a lot of moving parts involved in the implementation of this strategy, which can give rise to many issues related to data governance, cost, etc.

Besides the solutions mentioned above, outsourcing is another way to address multi-cloud data integration challenges. You can hire an IT firm that has a team of experts to offer cloud migration solutions.

Effectiveness of the Membership/Subscription Model in E Commerce

In recent years, the membership/ subscription model in e commerce has become increasingly popular among businesses across the board. Platforms such as Netflix, Amazon, and Spotify are some examples that have tremendously benefited from the subscription-based model. The subscription-based pricing strategy is seen as a way to attract and retain customers by providing incentives such as discounts, loyalty programs, and early access to products or services.

online-store-development

According to Gartner, by the end of 2023, 75% of organizations selling direct-to-customers will adopt a subscription-based pricing model. From these numbers, one can easily conclude that the subscription model is here to stay.

But why are businesses so keen on adopting this pricing model?

In this article, we will discuss the effectiveness of the membership/ subscription model and some of the challenges businesses can face while adapting to this model.

Benefits of a Membership/ Subscription Model in E Commerce

  • Accurate Revenue Prediction

Subscription-based businesses can accurately forecast their revenues and profits as they receive a relatively consistent level of income from the customers. This allows them to plan their operational, marketing, and development costs better.

Additionally, since the customers purchase their products at a regular cadence, the pricing model businesses can also better manage their inventory.

  • Reduce Customer Acquisition Costs

The cost of acquiring new customers is continuously increasing, with Harvard Business Review estimating that customer acquisition can be about 15 times more expensive than retaining a customer. The average customer acquisition cost, or CAC, for ecommerce businesses, is around $45 per customer.

The membership model allows businesses to build long-term relationships with already existing customers. This way, companies can focus on customer referral programs and word-of-mouth marketing, which is less expensive than paid marketing campaigns and result in a reduced CAC and increased profits.

  • Higher Customer Retention Ratio

The ecommerce subscription model offers businesses opportunities to improve their customer retention ratio. With this pricing strategy, businesses can offer exclusive incentives and rewards that encourage subscribers to stay longer with the platform and provide a more personalized service to their customers.

For example, Stitch Fix, an online fashion company that offers a subscription-based model, asks its customers a few questions about their clothing style at the time of onboarding and recommends clothing items accordingly. This way, customers receive personalized outfits tailored to their individual needs, which improves the customer experience on the platform and results in a better retention rate.

  • Increased LTV

LTV, or Lifetime Value, is an important metric for ecommerce stores that measures how much a customer spends in their entire life on the platform. Studies have shown that the platform that offers subscriptions can increase their LTV by 230%. This is due to the fact that subscription business models are more focused on providing consistent value over an extended period of time to their customers.

  • Higher Customer Engagement

For businesses with a one-time product purchase mode, it takes significant effort, strategizing, and investment to engage customers with the brand. However, if a customer has subscribed to a business, it means they found value in the products and services of the brand and are interested to hear more from them. This makes it easier for companies to engage with the subscribers and also encourages them to use the platform more frequently.

Challenges with the Subscription Model

From the above benefits, we can see that the subscription/membership model is an effective way to scale your business and generate more revenue. However, ecommerce businesses can face several technical challenges while adopting this pricing strategy on their platform.

Subscription Customer Management

Usually, subscription-based businesses have several customers visiting the platform at the same time. It can be challenging to manage customers’ orders, purchase history, billing information, and communications needs with a dated system. This can lead to inaccurate customer data and result in poor customer experience.

Flexible Subscription Options

Subscriptions are often tailored to fit the customer’s needs. Offering flexible subscription plans is a great way to attract more customers; however, it also comes with its challenges, such as added complexity in billing and inventory management system integration.

Security Threats

According to studies, the ecommerce industry is currently facing 32.4% of all successful cybersecurity threats annually, making it essential for such businesses to be well-equipped with appropriate tools to avert such threats. This is especially crucial for businesses with a subscription model, as they consist of customers making recurring payments at once. If appropriate measures are not taken to ensure the safety of each payment gateway, it can make the platform vulnerable to attacks. Subscription businesses must invest in advanced security technologies to provide secure payment gateways and protect customers’ data and privacy.

Failed Transactions Management

For businesses with a significant number of subscribers, it can be difficult to notice when transactions fail. Furthermore, manually going through customer records and identifying failed transactions can be a time-consuming task. Subscription businesses need an effective system to send alerts about such incidents and take prompt action.

Conclusion

The membership/ subscription model in e commerce has proven to be an effective pricing strategy for ecommerce stores and other businesses. It allows businesses to increase their customer loyalty and lifetime value while reducing costs associated with an acquisition. Overall, it is a great option for any business that is looking to build long-term relationships with its customers and drive more sales.

However, adapting to a subscription model also comes with its own set of challenges, which, if not addressed, can lead to poor customer experience and, eventually, loss of subscribers.
